Anyone done that? I found it a challenge to upgrade from no-multilib kde4 setup to plasma 5. If I choose plasma profile emerge starts pulling multilib packages but without plasma profile upgrade to plasma is a real pain. So, what's the solution here? |

It will be easier to remove KDE4 completely then. If you are following the Plasma-5 upgrade guide that would involve additionally removing kdebase-meta and kde-meta after the 'Clean up @world' step, then running emerge --depclean afterwards. WARNING: This might remove other beloved packages if they aren't recorded in world, so check with --pretend before.
After that is done, emerging plasma-meta should work fine. Then you will probably want to install KDE Applications. For that, use no less than 15.08.3 *meta packages, which aren't stable yet, but will be far less conflicting if you do not use the plasma profile.
It will be interesting to see which other obstacles you'll encounter, so keep us updated and feel free to post your blockers. |

Well, basically madness starts from here:
Code: | [ebuild R ] sys-apps/sandbox-2.10-r1 USE="(multilib*)" |
We do not have any other option than install multilib version of sandbox?? |

shouldn't happen unless you switched profile away from no-multilib? |

Correct. That happens when I switch to plasma profile and then do
Code: | emerge --ask --changed-use --newrepo --deep world |
Probably, I need to fully uninstall KDE4 and then do the @world clean-up, indeed. |

Well that's what I said. You need not wonder multilib stuff is coming up for emerge when you switch away from no-multilib. That's got nothing to do with Plasma. |
