Hello,

Since last update from 3.16 to 3.18 Gnome does not automatically mount USB flash drive anymore. It now prompts for root password.
This is annoying, how to revert to the previous behavior ?

Thank you.

The same behaviour occurs with partitions not mounted in fstab but instead in '/run/media/$USER/<mount_point>'. I suspect udev rule(s) is to blame.

I can confirm this bug here as well, it started yesterday when I restarted my workstation.

I updated to a newer kernel (4.1.15-gentoo-r1), taking into account all the systemd settings.

I doubt udev is to blame, my /etc/udev/rules.d/ is empty (?)

Code:
chown username:usergroup /run/media/<username>

Found this "gkr-pam: no password is available for user" in while running, $ journalctl --user -f, and plugging in flash drive.

Search on google got me to this blog post by Mike Greene. He shows the two setting in /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.udisks2.policy file that need to be changed to allow users in active logon sessions to mount and eject media like earlier versions did.

I'm running stable amd64. Installing unstable udisks-2.1.6, as advised in

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=576996,

solved this issue for me. Hope this helps!
