Recently I have started getting annoying messages whenever I run a program from portage-utils, namely:

Code:
iniparser: input line too long in //etc/portage/repos.conf/gentoo.conf (9)
iniparser: input line too long in //etc/portage/repos.conf/local.conf (5)

gentoo.conf contains the following:
Code:

[DEFAULT]
main-repo = gentoo

[gentoo]
location = /usr/portage
priority = 9999
sync-type = rsync
sync-uri = rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage
auto-sync = yes

and local.conf:

Code:
[Local-overlay]
masters = gentoo
location = /usr/local/portage
auto-sync = no
priority = 0

None of the lines seem very long to me. Why do I keep getting these warnings? I have portage-utils-0.56 and portage 2.2.26.

Strange_Attractor ... no not me, post the output of 'cat -vET /etc/portage/repos.conf/gentoo.conf', and the version of portage-utils.

Thanks for the reply. Here is the output of the command:

Code:

[DEFAULT]$
main-repo = gentoo$
$
[gentoo]$
location = /usr/portage$
priority = 9999$
sync-type = rsync$
sync-uri = rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage$
auto-sync = yes

I suspect that this means that an end-of-line character is missing at the end? Portage-utils is version 0.60 (latest ~amd64).

I will answer my own question: yes, there was no newline character at the end of the file. Inserting one fixed the problem. Thanks a lot! :D

gr3m1in, et al ...

Not sure how you created this file but (unix) editors should do this automatically, eg, vim has 'fixendofline' set by default.
