All forums I am a member of either discourage or forbid text-speak. For a variety of reasons, it is considered disrespectful, hard to understand for non-native english speakers, etc.
Why there is no such rule in Gentoo forums? Text-speakers are creeping in. |

Because on a technical help forum, instant karma is a sufficient deterrent.
The sort of people who can't be bothered to type literately tend to attract the sort of people who spout off inaccurate and unhelpful answers without bothering to read what they're replying to.
I know both groups exist here but I make it a point to give them minimal attention. |
