Hi @ all

rescently it was in need to setup a new Gentoo..... 4.1.12 / hardened
when building Evolution i always failed bec. this lil bit** telling me ever:

Code:

* Error: circular dependencies:

(app-crypt/gnupg-2.1.9:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) depends on
 (app-crypt/pinentry-0.9.6-r5:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) (buildtime)
  (app-crypt/gcr-3.14.0:0/1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) (runtime)
   (app-crypt/gnupg-2.1.9:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) (buildtime)

even i masked gcr and pintry and also useflags - gcr -pinetry

Anyone a idea? Or should i hardmask gcr and pinetry?

Regards

Hi Schnulli
3 things to say:
  • first, the full output of portage would be a good place to start
  • second, there is no such flag as "gcr" or "pinentry", neither generally or in "mail-client/evolution"
    Code:
    kikko@seireitei ~ $ equery hasuse gcr
     * Searching for USE flag gcr ...
    kikko@seireitei ~ $ equery hasuse pinentry
     * Searching for USE flag pinentry ...
    kikko@seireitei ~ $ eix mail-client/evolution
    * mail-client/evolution
         Available versions:  (2.0) 3.12.11 3.16.5 [M](~)3.18.2
           {+bogofilter crypt highlight ldap map spamassassin spell ssl +weather}
         Homepage:            https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evolution
         Description:         Integrated mail, addressbook and calendaring functionality

  • third, I'll report this post alongside with the other posts you have done across the forum. I'm sorry for your problem and I perfectly know how frustrating this sort of things can be, but imho spamming around won't help you or the others

Schnulli,

Circular dependancies way be cased by some USE flag combinations that cannot be satisfied by building the packages in the circular list just one.
You break the circle by setting the USE flags causing the issue off, running the emerge then setting the USE flags back on and running the emerge again with the --newuse option.

Portage often makes suggestions about the USE flags you need to change for the first build.

You need to put this in your make.conf

USE="-gnome-keyring"
