Hello!
I like to play chess at freechess but it's some time that I have to use Windows because timeseal stopped working on Gentoo.
I tried with kights and xboard.
I have an AMD64 system.
This is the message I get:
xboard -ics -icshost freechess.org -icshelper timeseal
timeseal: dynamic-link.h:57: elf_get_dynamic_info: Assertion `! "bad dynamic tag"' failed.
xboard: Connection closed by ICS
Maybe I have an old version of timeseal. Where can I get a new one .... working for amd64?
Thanks for help.

Log into fics/freechess and do help timeseal. It should tell you where to download the latest timeseal version.
I use eboard on linux which just requires the timeseal.linux binary to be present in your .eboard directory. Just run eboard and connect to fics, no need for command lines or anything else |

Hi everyone!
I still got no success to download timeseal.
I tried at ftp.freechess.org but for some reason I cannot connect: I suspect the server has some problem.
I made also some search with google but all links seem superseded.
I partly solved my problems compiling Jin which is not in portage. It is pretty good but and does not require to install separately timeseal I would like to have more options.
I would like also to try some good free windows program like babas chess or other. Has anybody experience with the installation of some these programs with wine?
thanks
I can pass to another question:
I see that crafty-book is not in portage. Does anybody know where to get it and how to install it?
bye

known problem don't use "freechess.org" but ip address, so:
remember to chmod at timeseal (i use 32bit timeseal for linux, on amd64)
xboard -ics -icshost 69.36.243.188 -telnet -telnetProgram ./timeseal _________________ gens una sumus |

I still could not solve my problems with knights.
I created an account on ICC and I noticed tha knights does not work also with timestamp does not work.
When I try to connect to the server I get a blank sceen and no possibility to do anything. If I disable timestamp (or timeseal for fics) everithing goes OK.
I would really appreciate some help. At least, do you know where can I find the errors log?
thanks

I can confirm that I can play on FICS with scid and eboard, using timeseal. I do not use knights as I am on i3.
