Today I signed in to Netflix, cause I read articles that it will work now also for linux... well
I installed:
chromium 46.0.2490.71 and chrome-binary-plugins 46.0.2490.71_p1 both with the "widevine" flag enabled
Under chrome://plugins or chrome://components/ I don't see any sign of the "Widevine Media Optimizer"
and Netflix is prompting the error: M7357-1269
Does anybody have an idea why this plug-in is missing?

Looks like they removed the "widevine" flag from chromium > 44
So I installed chromium version 47.0.2526.16, unfortunately the "chrome-binary-plugins" package for this version is broken (at least for me).
I dowloaded "google-chrome-unstable_47.0.2526.16-1_amd64.deb " from here:
http://mirror.pcbeta.com/google/chrome/deb/pool/main/g/google-chrome-unstable/
Unpacked the .deb and copied the: libwidevinecdm.so to: /usr/lib/chromium-browser/
and also created there a empty file named: widevine.version and just wrote 1.4.8.854 in the first line.
Netflix is working now! WoopWoop! |
