Hello,
two days ago I had to kill X because it was completley stuck and since than (I think it was since than) all videos are really slow. It doesn't matter if it is in firefox, chromium or just vlc. I just remembered I emerged playonlinux the day before .... Any ideas?

THX

chi86,

What does
Code:
$ glxinfo | head -n5
show?
What graphics driver do you think you are using?

Pastebin /var/log/Xorg.0.log please.

VIDEO_CARDS="nouveau intel" both the intel and the nouveau because I have a nvidia graphic card and an intel graphic chip

chi86,

Do you really have separtate Intel and nVidia graphics systems or is it an Optimus graphic system?

Your current Xorg.0.log shows you are using the Intel graphics only.

Ah ok thats not good .... I rather would use the nvidia because is more powerfull .... So you would suggest that I lose the intel in my VIDEO_CARDS?

chi86,

Not yet. Not until I know if you have Optimus or not.

Optimus is only one and a half graphics systems. The nVidia half has no connection to the display surface, so trying to use it alone always provides disappointing results.

Optimus has its own setup. The Intel chip always reads the pixel buffer to the display but you can switch between Intel and nVidia for drawing into the pixel buffer.

chi86,

OK, go for it. If you do have Optimus and don't know it, trying to use nVidia only will get you a blank screen.
We will be able to tell from your new Xorg.0.log if you have Optimus and you tried to use tho nVidia part on its own.

I found this manual (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/NVIDIA_Driver_with_Optimus_Laptops) and I will try it this week because it looks a bit difficult ....
