|

Hi, I just installed Gentoo Linux on my Presario laptop. I went step by step with the Install Guide, but I did not create a /boot partition, using one partition for all of /. Don't know if this is the problem. Anyway, when I did the first boot it gets to PCI: Using Configuration type 1. Then it freezes. Can't CTRL+ALT+DEL, must hard reboot. Any ideas? |

What kernel are you using? I would try vanilla-sources; get back into your system, chroot, emerge vanilla-sources, configure, compile, and install. See what that does for ya. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

Hi.
I had the same problem with my presario 700 us. I just recompiled the kernel over and over, and finally when i recompiled the kernel without the acpi support, it worked !
The sources i am using are gentoo-sources.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem with acpi ?
Thanks a lot. _________________ "No regrets."

Yeah, I was able to get it running without ACPI, too. However, thats not an option for me as I don't want an unstable system that overheats, and could possibly damage my laptop. I'm sure looking into http://acpi.sourceforge.net for an ACPI patch would help. |
