I had something like this in CS:S, I fixed it but i dont remeber how
BUt what I remeber:
It wasn't totally random - it was usually during playing some extra sound, like shooting
I think when setting sound quality to low lag was a bit smaller or setting vsync = on ( not sure, but something helped a bit )

I think I maybe just changed CONFIG_SND_HDA_PREALLOC_SIZE to 8192 in kernel options, or maybe
I changed to pulseaudio in steam settings ?
I googled right answer then, but it was pretty long time ago.

So u can observe your freezes, my guess its the same problem.
