I've installed Gentoo on my Thinkpad x60 with Libreboot installed. I can not get my headphone jack to work, and I'm honestly not sure if the jack is broken. (Is there some way to test this) I feel like it is a software issue though. I have Gentoo hardened with grsecurity and PaX enabled, and have enabled everything under PCI Devices and HD Audio under ALSA in the kernel. Any advice? Also, yes, everything is unmuted in alsamixer, haha.

I've definitely done everything there.

Do you have something like pavucontrol or similar app installed ?
Just about any app that shows the current volume of playback streams would do.

Hi

I have the same problem, but it only occurred when I've upgraded to the hardened kernel version 4.0.8. Now I'm going back to version 3.14.48 when everything was fine.
(I also have problems with my wireless card since the kernel upgrade).

EDIT:
sometimes I have sound, but then suddenly it doesn't work. When I reboot it works again for some time....

@MayorGuild
do you use telegram?

really strange, now I also have problems with my old kernel... but only when I launch telegram (desktop version).
when I stop the app and reload the "snd_hda_intel" modul it works again!

Could it be that an application (in userspace) messes up the sound system?
