|
|
Google chrome has been acting up lately in my system. There hasn't been any changes that I made to it. I was wondering, even though chrome has to be compiled in Gentoo... since it's a evergreen browser now, is it doing some kind of updates out of my control that is causing breaking/buggy changes? _________________ <h5>Checkout <em>#grandmasboy</em> on <em>freenode</em>...chat with jayP bot from the movie!</h5> |

are you sure you talk about the binary chrome or the chromium ebuild?
as you can see above www-client/google-chrome-44.0.2403.130_p1::gentoo is definitely a binary.
And that ebuild gets updated quite often, too often but as its a binary who cares. for sure once a week an upgrade to this package.
you may specify what your issues are or use different browsers.
i use firefox for very old html pages
opera when i need flash (webradio!)
google chrome, as above, only with some plugins to stop flash from autoplay, ad blockers and such. The only issue with google chrome is that since over 2 years it has a memory hole regarding flash. As flash is a binary crap from adobe, that can not be fixed and as most pages uses flash you are out of luck, that behaviour belongs to the company called adobe and I hope we get html5 soon and flash will die as soon as possible.
You may just switch to another webbrowser, as many did in the past when the current webbrowser is not to your liking. |

I don't see how they can on Linux. They just don't have the permission to do it.
EDIT: Unless you run as root, then you have a lecture coming... _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |
