I was trying to install WINE... Now I got the question <Would you like to add these changes to your config files?> I am a newbie and I don't really want to make my system NOT work anymore. Can someone explain me? And give me hints or suggestion on what to do?

emerge --ask app-emulation/wine

Would you like to add these changes to your config files? [Yes/No] No

emerge: there are no ebuilds built with USE flags to satisfy ">=dev-libs/libgcrypt-1.5.3:0[abi_x86_32(-)?,abi_x86_64(-)?,abi_x86_x32(-)?,abi_mips_n32(-)?,abi_mips_n64(-)?,abi_mips_o32(-)?,abi_ppc_32(-)?,abi_ppc_64(-)?,abi_s390_32(-)?,abi_s390_64(-)?]".
!!! One of the following packages is required to complete your request:
- net-print/cups-2.0.2-r1::gentoo (Change USE: -abi_x86_32)
(dependency required by "net-print/cups-2.0.2-r1::gentoo" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "app-emulation/wine-1.6.2::gentoo[abi_x86_32,cups]" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "app-emulation/wine" [argument])

The short answer is just accept the changes. I am assuming you have a multilib system.

For background see these threads:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-953900-start-0.html
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1015048-highlight-abix8632.html

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1017260-highlight-abix8632.html
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-953900-highlight-abix8632.html

I posted a use flag list but it doesn't seem to be coming up in my history.

What I did.

Add line to /etc/make.conf
Code:
ABI_X86= " 64 "

If /etc/portage/package.use is a directory, copy these into a file in that directory. if it's a file, just concatenate them to the file:
Code:

#end of list  required by the deprecation of the emul-x86 libraries

This will not break your system and is easy to undo if you don't like it.

Your system may require more. If you wish, post back with whatever message comes up after you've done this and run "emerge -auvND world wine". Don't be surprised by a big list. On one system about 80 packages were rebuilt, on anoter IIRC 110.

EDIITED to add build of wine. I already had wine built with the emulation libraries that are now defunct.

Now this resolved ALL the issues with installing Wine! It also resolved issues I had with other applications I had previously installed in x. Thank you so much! :)
