Hi, all
After upgrade pulseaudio to 5.0-r4, my gentoo box's pulseaudio cant work, I am google this problem for hours but I cant find solution.

Given the output from aplay, I'd go with "you're blaming the wrong guy".
It seems to be a problem with alsa itself, though it's hard to say whether it's on lib or kernel level. |

When I change to old kernel my sound card work fine (i.e. linux-3.14.14-gentoo).
I compile linux-3.14.14-gentoo with default sound card setting.
But when I use default setting of linux-3.18.7-gentoo to compile kernel, my sound card dont work.
What should I do next, I never config sound card option in kernel. |

Same issue here with sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.19.1 and media-sound/pulseaudio-6.0.
Is there already a bugreport on this issue?

Hmm, I seem a problem relate to kernel.
My current solution is switch back to old kernel 3.14 branch. |

| I can tell that media-sound/pulseaudio-5.0-r{6,7} and sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.19.0 worked. No idea which of both is to blame. |

Have you try pulseaudio-5.0-r7 with kernel 3.18.7? |

| This seems to be very random. After a reboot with sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.19.1 and media-sound/pulseaudio-6.0, it works this time… |

I have solve this problem,
When I compile the 3.18.x kernel with default ALSA config, it does only include INTEL_SND_HDA module but not
include alsa codec support. After selecting all HD-audio codecs support for "HD Audio PCI" my sound card is work now. |
