Yes I see that just before your reply but the problem still persists after this correction.
I add that I have black screen for one second between the startx and messages. My system also turns for information in a virtual machine (vmware). |

WhitakerF,
Did you test with no ~/.xinitrc and with twm, xterm and xclock. Thats worth doing, so we can tell if its Xorg or enlightenment that is causing the problem. _________________ Regards,

WhitakerF,
We can come that that later. We don't even know if Xorg works.
As you are using a virtual machine, it has challenges of its own.
There is no need to apologise for being a novice. We all remember getting started in Linux.
You will find this Gentoo Wiki page useful.
It shows both how to start Enlightenment from the console and using a graphical log in manager. _________________ Regards,

With these two commands can I check this ?
Quote: | echo "enlightenment_start" >> /etc/X11/Sessions/Enlightenment
chmod +x /etc/X11/Sessions/Enlightenment |
When I first I have the following message :
Quote: | bash: /etc/x11/Sessions/Enlightenment: No such file or directory
|
I guess this is not normal? |

Also having problems using exec enlightenment_start in .xinitrc...
Xorg itselfs works fine. Tested it with TWM+xterm and also awesome. Both work fine, but with enlightenment I get only no such file or directory |
