|

I have an up to date handbook example gentoo install, with xorg and KDE-base
I tried to add a volume control (mixeroid, kmix, etc.) to my KDE panel
what I got was five x icons I can't seem to delete
any suggestions how to delete these?
what about getting mixeroid on my panel?
any suggestion on getting a volume control somewhere in the system? |

I'm using plasma 5.3 and you're using kde4 I think so I can't check for sure but since no one else replied yet are you first unlocking the widgets/panel? Then go as if you are trying to add a widget and hover over the bad widget you want to remove with the mouse. An 'x' should appear which you can click to remove it. Either that or try right clicking and looking for such an option. Alternatively with the widgets unlocked and after hitting that little config button try dragging it somewhere else such as to the desktop and deleting it there.
Or did you try all this already? Sorry if so or if these are too obvious. |

yes, I am using kd4 something, I noticed a plasma option in the GUI log-in, the only time a made a selection was to start the last session, the other choices were "new session", Plasma, Plasma debug or something
if I right click on the panel, select panel settings, more settings, lock widgets, I can then right click on the panel and get the option to unlock widgets
the five icons are red with a white X
they are from my attempt to get a volume control
somewhere I heard that Mixeroid was a replacement for Kmix
Kmix is showing up and working
and I notice that if I point on each of the five icons, without clicking, I get the same message
"Unable to load the widget
could not create python ScriptEngine
for the Mixeroid widget"
Kmix is good enough for now, especially since I haven't seen Mixeroid
maybe I'll try to remove Mixeroid all together, then try to remove the icons, I'll wait for any suggestions first, thanks a lot |
