I ran into a problem with gaim today so I took a quick look at their site and sure enough there is a new version. So I did emerge sync emerge -u gaim but it says nothing needs to be done. Some quick version checking shows that the newest version according to portage is 0.72 the newest version on their site is 0.75.
So I figured I'd write a new ebuild to get it up to date as it's a few months behind. However when I went to /usr/portage/.../gaim I found some newer release canidates and even a gaim-0.75.ebuild.
How come this doesn't come up in the emerge -u listing as needing to be run? Is this an issue with my system? |

yeah I manually emerged it already. Do I need to add the accept keywords something like /etc/make to bring everything upto date? |

doh, no wonder I wasn't getting as many updates as before I rebuilt. there must be 90 things in there now.
what's the determining factor on when things move from unstable to stable? |
