Hi,

I'm trying to compile the latest stunnel 5.14 update on my x86 machine - but the ebuild fails with:

Code:
>>> Emerging (1 of 1) net-misc/stunnel-5.14::gentoo
>>> Jobs: 0 of 1 complete, 1 running                Load avg: 0.08, 0.03, 0.05*** Error in `/usr/lib
/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.8.3/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld': corrupted double-linked list: 0x
0875f2f8 ***
>>> Jobs: 0 of 1 complete, 1 running                Load avg: 0.00, 0.01, 0.05^C

The build log says:
Code:

...
checking for memory.h... yes
checking for strings.h... yes
checking for inttypes.h... yes
checking for stdint.h... yes
checking for unistd.h... yes
checking for dlfcn.h... yes
checking for objdir... .libs
checking if i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc supports -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions... no
checking for i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc option to produce PIC... -fPIC -DPIC
checking if i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc PIC flag -fPIC -DPIC works... yes
checking if i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc static flag -static works... sandbox:stop  caught signal 2 in pid 6880
sandbox:stop  signal already caught and busy still cleaning up!

/usr/portage/net-misc/stunnel/stunnel-5.14.ebuild: src_configure aborted; exiting.

Not sure if I should report a bug on this or it's a problem on my side.

Hello

I'm running into this problem as well on multiple boxes.

I've seen references talking about binutils version and 32 bit boxes with this problem. I believe it's a conflict of static and pie flags at the same time. I tried

Code:
EXTRA_ECONF="--disable-pie" emerge --oneshot stunnel

.. and that still fails. The weird thing is that I have multiple 32 bit boxes, and stunnel compiled fine, but currently I'm dealing with 3 boxes that are showing this same error.

Reference links with similar problems:

Thanks!
hanji

I reported the issue here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=547394

Looks like an update to unstable binutils 2.25 resolves the issue ...

Me, too, on an x86, i586 laptop. I've masked the 5.14 version of stunnel. We'll see how well that works. The only thing that requires it on my system is ssvnc and I haven't used that in years.
