libpng warning: Application built with libpng-1.2.53 but running with 1.6.16
VLC has no images on its icons and this message has been haunting me
(It's a long story why it happened in the first place!)
I've used ldd on every shared library the find can find in my ldconfig paths (all seem to be 1.6.16)
I've used ldd on every executable the find can find in my PATH
I've unmerged VLC and re merged it....
I don't think its restricted to VLC but rather to a something that got linked to 1.2.53 when I accidentally manually installed it
anyone got ANY ideas I'm at a bit of a loss!

Now I'm even more confused
I compiled a small app using libpng and I get the same issue (gcc test.c -lpng)
so I unmerged libpng and manually deleted files it said it was preserving then emerged it again
I recompiled the test app and I'm still getting the issue |

So did a more thorough purge of libpng's then re-emrged libpng
this allowed my simple code to compile (and run!)
then using
equery d libpng
saw qt-gui was effected and re-emerged that
finally properly working VLC!
I just have to work through the list of equery d libpng to see what other installed stuff as effected! |
