I tried with a new xine config and downgrading of xine, ffmpeg, libdvdread and libdvdnav.
Same has happened on my laptop which i just updated yesterday  as i remember the only thing i removed was all the libav and vaapi stuff but this should have no such effect.

Did you use the -dvd-video option for mkisofs when burning the disk?
Have u tried other movies ?
No one replies because almost none use xine now, I guess.

get similar error with vlc.
xine just locks up.
Something broke dvd image playing horribly
