hi,
this is a bit to few info. what do you try to mount? nfs? cifs? usbstick? have you disabled auto option in fstab? do you use systemd or openrc?
also, what do you think, when saying automount in combination with /etc/fstab? do you mean mounting a device at startup or do you mean mounting a usb pen when connecting to the machine? _________________ For calming down your eyes or clearing your mind: www.patrickwehli.ch |

Indeed, more info is needed.
Also post the line if fstab in which you defined the share, and let us know if manual mounting works ( and how it is done).

tattonaga,
Read about Network File System (NFS)
On the file server, you need to export the directory you want to share.
On the client, you need to mount it with a type of nfs.
You will need nfs support in your kernel on both systems. One only need server support, the other only client.
However its good to have the client and server at both ends. This allows you to share a volume over NFS to the PC exporting it.
This is of no practical value at all bet its eliminates some errors with usernames and permissions, so its good for testing.
Like all filesystems, NFS has its own user space tools. You will need them too.
NFS is insecure. If you trust you LAN, thats OK. Don't even consider using NFS on an untrusted network unless you add the security yourself. _________________ Regards,
