I have configured systemd, slim & xfce4 on my gentoo laptop
whenever I start following journalctl(journalctl -f) I get the following message:
<timestamp> slim[<pid>]: glibtop: failed to open "/sys/class/net//statistics/rx_errors": no cuh file or directory
I get the same message for: rx_bytes, tx_errors or tx_bytes as well, that's 4 messages per second
there's also a "glib-gio-critical ** g_file_get_path assertion g_is_file" message before these messages begin to flood my journal

thanks

You may want to try re-merging slim and libgtop, but this is a weird error indeed.

Which version of each are you using?

Unfortunately I'm not on my machine that I have SLiM installed on, but find it a bit weird that SLiM would need libgtop at this moment... so I hope it's not a corrupted logfile. But either way there's something that's probably calling libgtop procedures improperly. Next guess would be xfce-power-manager or something to that extent.

yes you are correct, it was something that had to do with xfce
it was the network monitor applet, If I choose automatically select interface, it would just flood those messages as no interfaces were up.

I have manually selected the interface and everything is fine now
thanks alot for your help
