Maybe that overlay is somewhat temporary unavailable...

That happened to me with a couple of packages.

But they are available in other repositories. All you have to do is to google for the exact file name, download it and put it in /usr/portage/distfiles

Don't worry about security, portage will check the files and will make sure they match the sizes and checksums from the overlay.

Just google for ex. tdelibs-14.0.0 and others not being found?
All I get from google are ubuntu packages shouldn't I use other searching?

Were you able to emerge tqtinterface finally?

If you still haven't got success, I just thought that you might be able to compile it with this command line:

Code:
QTDIR=/usr/tqt3/ emerge -1 --nodeps tqtinterface

Thus, telling cmake where to find the qt libraries.

After that, you should be able to emerge tdelibs and the rest.

I have no idea what's broken, though. It might be a problem in the ebuild, the overlay eclasses (I guess that's more probable) or cmake itself. But that should allow you to compile the package, or, at least, provide a different error message past that point

Google the whole file name, which is "tdelibs-R14.0.0.tar.bz2".

Here you are a direct link:

https://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/trinity/releases/R14.0.0/tdelibs-R14.0.0.tar.bz2

Code:

keramik.cpp:(.text+0xb724): undefined reference to `XShapeCombineRectangles'

This makes me think that you are missing the XShape extension in some required component.

Just to make sure. You haven't emerged xorg-server with the "minimal" use flag, have you?

Did you try revdep-rebuild?

Does it work if you re-emerge libXext and then try again?

EDITED: also I have USE="opengl xcomposite" enabled globally, even though I don't use effects of any kind. Maybe tde enables or disables the shape extension along with those use flags (these things should be unrelated, but after all it's just an external overlay so...)

I made it :)
tdebase-meta with all other packages merged succesfully

the repo is kinda poor, are there any special dedicated apps for TDE like krusader or amarok?

EDIT
Code:
$ starttde

doesn't work and no TDE session in session list in LXDM

How to start it?

I have no idea if the tde project gives these any cover at all. In other words, I don't know if they are just missing from the overlay or missing from the tde project at all.

In what way it doesn't work?

I don't use a login manager so I know nothing about them.

If you put a line like this in your ~/.xinitrc file, it should work or, at the very least, give you an informative error about why it does not work.

Code:
/usr/trinity/14/bin/starttde

Oh, I think I remember (speaking from memory since I am not using trinity anyway) that I also had to add that directory to my $PATH. Maybe that's your problem.

So you might also want to add PATH="$PATH:/usr/trinity/14/bin/" to your .bashrc, your .bash_profile or whatever is the right initialization rc file for your shell of choice. That way, you and also tde will be able to find the tde binaries. Reboot after the modifications or make sure you restart all your shells (just reboot if you don't know how to handle that and you'll be fine).

I have no idea if that will work with login managers though (in the case you get it working that way at all).

I got a message

Ops! The profile directory /home/[user]/.trinity is a symlink to .trinity-3.5.

Trinity R14 XDG compliance updates have been interrupted.

Without R14 XDG compliance updates, some Trinity apps will fail to
    function properly.

    Failures include the following:

    ...

    Please exercise exercise appropriate action.

    Possible remedies:

    ...

Selecting the Continue button means preserving the KDE3 profile and
breaking the sym link. With the sym link broken, the /usr/trinity/14/bin/migratekde3
script will run to migrate the KDE3 profile to Trinity.

I also got that.

I just pressed the button to leave it do its thing. I don't remember the details but I do remember that the message was a bit confusing.

Bear in mind that I didn't have any previous kde3 (or 4) profile, so I didn't care about losing anything. If you habe one, you might want to do backups.

In any case, if you press the correct button you should be greeted by the old kde config assistant. I didn't remember about that at all until I saw it. Good old memories... :P

Yes, I pressed right button
Also, I didn't set any lines in my bash so I don't know if I need adding it.

It's in english not in my native language as I did set the whole system but it's fine just thought the locales would stay...

I just built out kde-3.5 from the kde-sunset overlay on a new system recently, so I can maybe help:

emerge gcc-4.5.4 and use gcc-config to temporarily set it to be your compiler.
emerge an old binutils, in my case I used binutils-2.20.1-r1, and use binutils-config to set it temporarily to be the binutils version being used.
Some packages may be able to be compiled with the latest compiler, but generally you want to use the compiler that was around back then
when this was released. I also had to switch to an even earlier version of gcc for a couple of the packages to compile: gcc-4.3.6

You may need to replace flags like "-march=core2-avx2" with "-march=core2" in your make.conf (which is recognized by the older compiler).

I added to the following USE flags:
# KDE-3.5
=kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.10-r10 avahi -cups
=net-dns/avahi-0.6.31-r2 qt3

I added the following to the keywords file (unmasked):
# KDE-3.5
kde-base/kdelibs ~amd64
kde-misc/kdnssd-avahi ~amd64

You should be able to build kdelibs-3.5.10-r10.
Then try building kde-base:3.5 first, before shooting for the full kde-meta:3.5.
I got to a point where I had to emerge one package at a time, skip over the ones that didn't emerge, and go back.
Out of kde-meta:3.5, there were only a few packages that failed to compile, like kopete. Luckily I don't use any of them.

I have found that Trinity has installed a login manager in my system
but tdm doesn't work
the window appears, I write login and password but it doesn't log me in
pressing enter and after few seconds I see login window again...

the other login manager I have is LXDM
but there is no TDE session in it

Hello Oniryczny,
my box wont compile trinity-base/tdelibs, too, with the same error.
What did you do to make it work?
