Hey im doint my stage1 install on my ss20. Im at the point of editing /etc/fstab, and i see that /dev/sda4 (root) shows up as xfs filesystem, when it should be ext3. Whats up? I did not choose the xfs filesystem, i wouldnt want that. Is there a way to change it now? I dont want to have to go back and include it in my kernel and recompile that... Anyone have any ideas?

that's the point: you should edit fstab to tell him to use ext3 and not xfs (which is only here to show an example)

Uhm no one keeps you from changing the example filesystem entry in fstab to what you really have... *sigh*

Ok  I was thinking that it pulled the filesystem information that it had read from my disk. And I do remember not including xfs support in the kernel, it just kind of made me stop. I didnt want to have to start the kernel again.

Heh. fstab doesn't magically create itself :) It's just a text file...

Yeah, i just thought that it read straight from the disk, and i was panicking. I didnt want to screw anything up this far into the install and was just being OVERparanoid. :P

Maybe though, since the install gives a 'typical' drive layout. Maybe the part about editing /ect/fstab should echo that. I mean, if the 'default' is ext3, then fstab shoudl also be that way, so as not to freak us noobs out. Just a thought. Its no big deal. Most of you guys have forgotten more about linux than I will ever know. So dont take it for granted. But for the first or second timers, it can be a bit daunting.
