Since upgrading to KDE 4.14.3, konqueror and dolphin are extremely slow to start up.

When starting dolphin from the comandline I get this message:

Code:
Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceAdded(QDBusObjectPath)
Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)
dolphin(26811)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*): KSystemTimeZones: ktimezoned initialize() D-Bus call failed:  "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

So I'm guessing it's something to do with dbus. Once it's up and running, dolphin appears to work fine.

Edit:

Automounting was broken as well. Re-emerging consolekit and re-starting appears to have done the trick.

It may be answered now but I'm curious: KDE used to have an env.d variable for prelink support that was supposed to benefit startup time, does that still do anything?

tabanus, thanks for posting. I was experiencing exactly the same thing, and your fix of re-merging consolekit fixed it in my case too.

Ant P: If all the KDE processes show up as kdeinit, then it might do something. If I recall, changing that flag made the KDE programs run directly instead of forks of kdeinit where they basically preloaded libraries themselves or something like that.
