|
|
Since upgrading to KDE 4.14.3, konqueror and dolphin are extremely slow to start up.
When starting dolphin from the comandline I get this message:
Code: | Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceAdded(QDBusObjectPath)
Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)
dolphin(26811)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*): KSystemTimeZones: ktimezoned initialize() D-Bus call failed: "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." |
So I'm guessing it's something to do with dbus. Once it's up and running, dolphin appears to work fine.
Edit:
Automounting was broken as well. Re-emerging consolekit and re-starting appears to have done the trick. _________________ Things you might say if you never took Physics: "I'm overweight even though I don't overeat." - Neil deGrasse Tyson |

It may be answered now but I'm curious: KDE used to have an env.d variable for prelink support that was supposed to benefit startup time, does that still do anything? |

tabanus, thanks for posting. I was experiencing exactly the same thing, and your fix of re-merging consolekit fixed it in my case too. _________________ Clevo W230SS: amd64, VIDEO_CARDS="intel modesetting nvidia".

Ant P: If all the KDE processes show up as kdeinit, then it might do something. If I recall, changing that flag made the KDE programs run directly instead of forks of kdeinit where they basically preloaded libraries themselves or something like that. |
