You've found a use-after-free bug, and spun it into the NSA trying to hack you?! Why so paranoid? |

Yes I do think NSA is hacking people. Why do you think that is paranoid? |

There's a difference between "hacking people" and "hacking you". There's a much large number of criminals trying to take over servers for various sorts of botnets than there is NSA.
Plus it sounds like you just ran into a bug in the NFS stack, not an attack. |

SELinux doesn't seem all that bad to me, other than it's about containing a bomb after it's already gone off. I'd rather try to keep the bomb from going off in the first place.
Oh and the kernel devs might want to know about your NFS issue. |

They track the associations of the general public, with data from ISPs. They hack suspected terrorists (and people on Obama's Enemies List, like government officials and news reporters with bad things to say about him). So unless you're one of those people, I wouldn't get my panties in too much of a bunch over it. It's more likely the Chinese, or a bug, or PEBKAC. _________________

Aren't use-after-free errors pretty common? It's a memory management issue. The kernel is written in C. It seems obvious to me. |

The only reason why I didn't reply before is because I was really busy, and still am.
And there isn't anymore need now that it's misplaced.
Off the walll?
Who's nut here.
Really couldn't be back so soon even it it was were it belonged.
Not here.
Thanks!

He's saying, "I'd have checked back sooner but I've been busy. What's this 'Off The Wall' shit? You guys are the nuts, not me. Not going to bother, now that my post has been sloughed off from where it belonged into batshit-land." _________________

You're welcome. And I want you to take note that while you guys all think I'm a raging Penisaurus Rex, what made that translation possible is something called "empathy". _________________

I'm glad to present to the Gentoo crowd, but I really, really don't believe that it consists only of sceptics and people of poor moral habits, or people being temporarily incosiderate like some of the above, more on ths case that I believe [1] is possibly another bug-after-free in my Gentoo machine:

you are, of course, correct.
There are moral people here, who love to look at a problem from all sides and are able and willing to consider all possible causes. Not everybody is a morally bankrupt plutocrat like BK or a degenerate like cokehabit or Notageek - who is still fighting his noble heritage. So sad. So sad....
I for example am a national socialist/Strasserist. As such I am the epitome of morality and thoughtful behaviour.
So think a bit when I tell you this:
you are suffering from memory corruption. Get ECC ram and a mobo supporting it. If you still have that problem, you might have found a bug.
Until then: holy molly thread necro'ing! _________________ Study finds stunning lack of racial, gender, and economic diversity among middle-class white males

Don't listen to energyman76b; he doesn't know what he's talking about. That error screen says right on it what's going on. You tried to de-reference a null pointer. That's a software problem, not a hardware problem, and there's no way ECC RAM or anything else is going to "correct" it. _________________
