Hi Experts, I want to get vnc installed on my gentoo server. For that I installed XFCE and Tight vnc. When I try connecting using VNC, I see a black screen with a X. So I thought that I need to start the startx/startxfce4 on that vnc user.

When I log into a normal user and run 'startx or startxfce4, I get the below error message :-

No experience with vnc, but...

Perhaps a silly question, but if the card is a Matrox, why did you put 'radeon' in VIDEO_CARDS ?
Your xorg log seems to suggest x11-drivers/xf86-video-mga.

That is my fault. I basically copied this make.conf from a different server and forgot to change the VIDEO_CARD settings on it.

Could you help me with what should be there under VIDEO_CARD in make.conf for Matrox card ?

Appreciate all your help.

Going by the content of xorg-drivers ebuild, 'mga' seems to be the correct value for matrox.
