I have been going nuts trying to figure out what is going on, my Virtual gentoo boxes would hang on reboot and I would have to hit shut down guest numerous times to get the machines to sgutdown from the vmware tray, I now realize that the problem originates from logout. it's the logout process that hangs from either kde or gnome. Lxde does not hang, WHATS going on? _________________ Billy DeVincentis |

Are there any relevant log files? check your home directory for files starting with dots. usually DE have log files, also check the system log files. this should give you a starting point. also check if there are existing bugs for your version of your desctop environment. |

SEems that index service tracker is hanging up. kill that first before you switch your desktop and see if it is faster than.
and kill also that kuiserver
you have to scroll up several hundred lines before you invoke that switch command. I get the feeling that this is not everything, but I may be wrong this time... |
