UIM+Anthy works on my system just fine for Japanese input, except when typing in urxvt the characters appear white-text-on-white-background in urxvt until they're confirmed. This is annoying. :)

Is there a uim or urxvt setting I could look into to fix this?

I am experiencing this issue as well, and have noticed that it only appears when I run urxvt with a color depth of 32:

$ urxvt -depth 32


As a workaround, you can remove the following line from .Xresources or .Xsession or whatever:

Code:
URxvt.depth: 32


Note, however, that this will kill transparency.

Also, even with the workaround the pre-confirmation font is pretty rough. It looks like it's using some default non-antialiased one.

I filed a bug report with uim, as well as sending a message on the rxvt-unicode mailing list:

Anyone try fiddling with compile options on rxvt-unicode or uim?
