I think most of my problems are because I downgraded to bluez-4 and have masked bluez 5. I cannot use bluez 5 since bluez 5 broke the HSF/microphone functionality of bluetooth, which is the primary reason I use bluetooth on my laptop(skype headset).

When I try to emerge nm-applet, I receive these errors with gnome-bluetooth. I'd also like to know if there is a way to emerge nm-applet without gnome-bluetooth. I use nm-applet within XFCE, and blueman does a fine job of managing my bluetooth.

Here are some build logs and pieces of information about my system.

gnome-extra/nm-applet -bluetooth

in /etc/portage/package.use fixed everything.

I'm so embarrassed. :( :(

I think I am having a similar issue and just want to double check here.

The scenario is that blutooth works fine but NetworkManager in Xfce won't display the bluetooth controls. The network manager applet uses gnome-bluetooth as a dependancy, so it blocks blueman. In order to get blueman installed, remove the bluetooth support from Network Manager using

Code:
File: /etc/portage/package.use
gnome-extra/nm-applet -bluetooth

Then blueman can be installed.

If this is right, then don't be embarrassed, you just solved my problem. Thanks!!!!!!
