Hi

I have emerged dosemu, if I enter $ dosemu this causes dosemu.bin to run (according to the running processes list) but the terminal just freezes.

Entering a dos command gives no response.

The ~/.dosemu folder is empty but I believe this should contain the drive c and d folders and boot log. Is this a configuration problem?

I see the same behavior. The process starts, but just hangs.

I was actually able to get it working by using the ~x86 instead of stable. From the looks of it, the stable hasn't been updated in a loooong time.

The current stable is: app-emulation/dosemu-1.4.1_pre20091009, and it does the hang behavior.
The current ~x86 is: app-emulation/dosemu-1.4.1_pre20130107 and that one seems to work.

Thanks for that.

I was getting nowhere over a period of time so I moved to dosbox which seems to work ok .

But I will give 'app-emulation/dosemu-1.4.1_pre20130107' a try and will let you know how I get on.

Hi

I have been trying to use fasm in dosemu and find that it crashes. Everything else I want to run in dosemu seems to work fine.

Code:
error in .dosemu/boot.log    {WARN: vm86plus service not available in your kernel}

Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it.

After further research It appears that vm86 needs to be enabled in the kernel.

And according to 'https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-705463-view-previous.html?sid=b0dc20f9f1b52235c46ef46bce449c24'

it is only available in 32bit or 16 bit system I am using a 64 bit system.

So it looks as though I cannot get fasm to run.

Unless anyone knows differently that is!
