Hi,

I've been dabbling with samba4 as an AD DC.
I have a legacy BIND 9.9 server doing local DNS caching and, until the recent re-config, using flat files for my local machine configs.
BIND is now using the dlz and ldap modules and 'samba-tools dns' (or RSAT on a domain machine) works, erm, as expected I guess.

I do have an issue not being able to replicate the *.my.fqdn.com A record from my flat file, but this is a minor annoyance.

My confusion comes from the DHCP aspect. My DHCP is a standard net-misc/dhcp with a server use flag.
What should or could be responsible for the local DNS record updates?
My understanding is:
domain hosts could be responsible for updating thier own records?
I can configure DHCP to update flat records, but I don't use flat files anymore...[/i]
Should samba be integrated into the DHCP somehow?

I've found plenty of resources pertaining to Samba and DNS, and plenty to do with DNS and DHCP, but not all three, and don't know which way to look.
