Hello;
I recently installed freebsd along side gentoo and I did the os-prober part of grub2 installation procedure but grub2 doesn't find freebsd.
the freebsd nested partition is setting at /dev/sda1 and contains freebsd-ufs and freebsd-swap partitions.
How could I tweak the grub2 on gentoo to add freebsd to the grub menu list.
Thanks |

I haven't used FreeBSD in years, but when I did, I installed my bootloader from BSD. At that time, my linux bootloader couldn't read FreeBSD partitions.
Perhaps this still is the case. |

So how should I do dual boot; the linux grub can't read the UFS partition slice correctly and BSD have no support for ext4 |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LILO_%28boot_loader%29#lilo.conf
though i may be a bit biased about how absurdly sexy lilo is. wiki.gentoo.org lilo article doesn't cover this, could you please document on that if / when you test....
heh troy, im like 80 miles from you. /me waves @ neighbor |

This is what I have in my gentoo grub.cfg:
menuentry "FreeBSD 9.2" {
set root=(hd0,3)
chainloader +1
}
You should just adapt the partition number. |
