I did some updates to my server today, and I noticed it created /etc/portage/repos.conf/gentoo.conf, that appears to have the repository sync information in it. Does this replace the SYNC=rsync://rsync.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage line that I currently have in make.conf? And does the GENTOO_MIRRORS line go in here as well?

Hi!

From man make.conf:
Quote:
Note that the SYNC variable is now deprecated, and
instead the sync-type and sync-uri attributes in
repos.conf should be used. See portage(5) for more infor‐
mation.

I also had this come up. I read the portage man page and did some searching on the web but don't see anything about how this effects webrsync. Does this mean it does not effect webrsync?

looking at this it controls both sync and webrsync.

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Talk:Mirrorselect

i almost have syntax built up to fix the page but alas laziness vanquishes me.

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Mirrorselect

ive yet to find a way to benchmark and insert automatically.

the talk shows correctly when you go to edit it or view source. it re aranages the syntax around otherwise.

Thanks for all your work on the wiki, 666: please keep it up, and take a break if you feel stressed. :-)

It feels like a perpetual mess. Many things are fairly solid though.

666 I have code in mirrorselect's git that does the changes in repos.conf/gentoo.conf. It also adds more features, a new https download site for it's mirrors list, etc.. We've been hoping to improve the new ssl handling, possible simultaneous multiple sample downloads to improve time,.etc.. So I have been holding off making a release.

I hope to put out a release for next weekend, one way or the other.

P.S. with overlays.gentoo.org down at the moment, you cannot get the changes yet. I do have them locally.
