Hi,

I am looking for some calendar software which

  • is open source
  • is not too bloated
  • has a GUI
  • is preferably not written in java
  • can be configured to remind me of appointments etc.

anyone knows such software?

I was already suggested to use lighning but to be honest I want some app not being included in my webbrowser or email client.

"Is not too bloated" is somewhat subjective. Here are a couple.

If you're on linux then you could just use the 'cal' and 'at' commands... they're open source and definitely not written in java. but personally I consider a running cron to be too bloated on most of my machines, so that's probably a bit bloated for you, too.

If you're already using Emacs, I'd definitely recommend Emacs Org-Mode.

I don't know many stand-alone calendar apps. IMHO it's better to use one of those "bloated" environments with calendar, email, etc., because you'll be working with both at the same time anyways and you'd just have to copy manually more stuff between them.

I know people that are very happy with thunderbird - good email support + calendar and tasks.
