I am following this Arch Wiki page on mapping scancodes to keycodes: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Map_scancodes_to_keycodes
It mentions a method using udev, but I don't seem to have any of the related files, e.g. /usr/lib/udev/keymaps/*. I am running unstable ~amd64, on udev-206. I noticed that udev-204 has a use flag "keymap", but udev-206 does not. Has this functionality been removed from udev-206? Perhaps this functionality been moved to systemd? |

The functionality is still in udev, however that article is outdated. The keyboard definitions are now in a hwdb file and the keymap utility is now an udev built-in command. |

Could you elaborate on that? I can't find how to run the 'findkeyboards' and 'keymap' utilities, which used to come with udev prior to the new version (which has become stable a few days ago). Those tools are necessary to figure out the keycodes I need to remap.
edit: evtest provides the same functionality that keymaps did. The mappings can then be put into /etc/udev/hwdb.d/ (see /lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-keyboard.hwdb for examples), followed by udevadm hwdb --update. /etc/init.d/udev restart then applies the new settings without rebooting. |
