Hi everyone,

I just updated chromium the other day to 31.0.1650.48 (233213) and noticed some (not all) YouTube videos stopped working. Flash videos work fine, but if the HTML5 player is used I get the error "The video is currently unavailable". I launch firefox and check the same video and it works fine (with the HTML5 player).

I checked the "Stats for nerds" and here's what I get.
Example video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFNNPZsO7-Q
Chromium - Mime Type: video/mp4; codecs="avc1.4d400d"
Firefox - Mime Type: video/webm; codecs="vp8.0, vorbis"

Chromium doesn't work, Firefox works fine.

I had thought that I'd see webm and vp8 in Chromium, but I don't.
http://html5test.com/ shows a lack of MPEG-4 support (expected) for both browsers, so why is Youtube giving me an mp4 video? What can/should I check in Chromium to resolve this?

Here's an emerge --info chromium if it's helpful.
Thanks!
Code:
emerge --info chromium

I do not have an answer for you, but I am eager for an answer myself.

I emerged chrome-binary-plugins and still have the same problem. What is 235778?

Did you go to chrome://plugins/ and enabled pepperflash (and disabled regular flash)? 235778 is build - corresponds to 32.0.1700.19.

Knew nothing about pepperflash until I saw this post... and I am currently emerging 32.0.1700.19

I'll see how it goes when I am done.

Thanks for the tips. Hope it works!

I do not even see pepperflash. Is this from another package?

What is the flash version you do see? 11.9 r900 is the current PepperFlash (as of 11/26/2013).

In bold above solved an issue I was experiencing while streaming DirecTV content last week. Not sure why regular flash isn't turned off by default in the presence of pepperflash, but I'd start by ensuring pepperflash is on and AdobeFlash is off.
