I have hybrid graphics on my laptop, my X related settings in /etc/portage/make.conf look like this,
Code:
INPUT_DEVICES="evdev synaptics"

VIDEO_CARDS="intel radeon"

So where is the problem?

check those lines (starting with EE):
Code:
 (EE) Failed to load module "intel" (module does not exist, 0)

have you emerged all the necessary drivers?

try:
Code:
qlist -SI x11-drivers/
x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev
x11-drivers/xf86-input-keyboard
x11-drivers/xf86-input-mouse
x11-drivers/xf86-video-fbdev
x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel
x11-drivers/xf86-video-v4l
x11-drivers/xf86-video-vesa

that's the command and its output on my box. you should at least see x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel as a gfx-driver.
GOOD LUCK!

Actually, VIDEO_CARDS look about right, so reemerge xorg-drivers meta, so that the correct drivers are pulled.
Make sure your kernel is set up correctly.

I reemerged xorg-drivers and now it works fine. Thanks.
