Hi,

I think I have messed up a little with the drivers of the graphics card that eventually led to a state where the only resolutions I can use are 640x480 and 320x240.

I'd be glad if someone could help me get my screen resolution back to normal.

Thanks !

I can do it, I could take a week off and come to see it. What's your address? Are you willing to pay my travel expenses?

You could get help right here, on these forums, too. But you'd have to provide information about your hardware, post links to logs, etc.

The choice is yours. :)

I think your problem lies there. This is a known bug, newer nvidia-drivers do not work properly with older cards. You need to override default settings.
/usr/share/doc/nvidia-drivers-331.20/README.bz2 is your friend.

Thank you very much for identifying the problem :)

It seems like searching for "bug", "EDID" or "newer" in the man page does not seem to be effective in finding out how to solve that problem.

Is there any change you know where the bug fixing in the manual page can be?

Well, the README is not about bugs, it's about using and configuring the driver. Since EDID cannot be pulled you need to let the driver know what are the capabilities of your monitor.
