I'm trying to install thunar-volman plugin for thunar. This requires enabling of "udev" USE flag for thunar. As soon as this flag is added, I get funny slot conflicts.

Quote:

!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

gnome-base/gvfs:0

(gnome-base/gvfs-1.12.3-r1::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
(no parents that aren't satisfied by other packages in this slot)

(gnome-base/gvfs-1.16.3-r1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
>=gnome-base/gvfs-1.10.1[udisks,udev] required by (xfce-base/thunar-1.6.2::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)

dev-libs/glib:2

(dev-libs/glib-2.32.4-r1::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
<dev-libs/glib-2.33:2 required by (dev-libs/gobject-introspection-1.32.1::gentoo, installed)

(dev-libs/glib-2.36.4-r1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
>=dev-libs/glib-2.35:2 required by (gnome-base/gvfs-1.16.3-r1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)

I've tried already multiple combinations of USE flags but no matter what I do, without "udev" in thunar I can't install thunar-volman, but with "udev" the thunar itself causes conflicts. An attempt to add ~amd64 for the thunar results in even more problems, this time with gobject-introspection.

Any idea? Advice?

Going by output and ebuilds, likely changing useflags and not using '-N' screws up depeendency calculation.

Try either that or explicitly adding gvfs to emerge line.

Actually, I've found the solution. I had to add "gdu" USE flag to gvfs. After that no more conflicts showed up.

So, marking this as solved

'gdu' is udisks:0, 'udisks' is udisks:2, so no, not really.
