The Teamviewer daemon is not running!
Please start the daemon (needs root permissions) before running teamViewer:

teamviewer --daemon start

If yo udid not disable the daemon, please contact TeamViewer suppor. Run the following command to obtain all log files:

teamviewer --ziplog

Code:
$ teamviewer --daemon start
bash: teamviewer: command not found

Code:
$ teamviewer --ziplog
bash: teamviewer: command not found

There is no teamviewer command; only teamviewer8

Code:
$ teamviewer8 --help

 TeamViewer                      8.0.17147

 teamviewer                      start TeamViewer user interface (if not running)

 teamviewer --help               print this help screen
 teamviewer --version            print version information
 teamviewer --info               print version, status, id
 teamviewer --passwd [PASSWD]    set a password (useful when installing remote (ssh)
 teamviewer --ziplog             create a zip containing all teamviewer logs (useful when contacting support)

Notes to Julian Ospald & Mike Frysinger:
Maybe something needs a ... change ?

It would also be VERY useful to have an option to start teamviewer without having to initialize the daemon. Maybe something created in /etc/conf.d/teamviewer since it seems to me the best way or have it by default starting without the need of the daemon.

Currently with:
Code:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R   ~] net-misc/teamviewer-8.0.20931:8  USE="(-system-wine)" 0 kB

Code:
Could not load GNU/Linux extension shared library tvwine.dll.so

Reinstalling teamviewer does not solve the problem

Hi,

Both teamviewer --daemon start and teamviewer8 --daemon start don't work (looks like a faulty user instruction, because teamviewer8 instructs to start the daemon this way).
When I start
/opt/bin/teamviewerd
(as user root), teamviewer8 works here. Starts without errors or warnings.

I have only /opt/bin/teamviewer8 and as user i get:

Code:
Error parsing command line: unknown option profile-dir

As root it complains:
Code:
The teamviewer daemon is not running!
Please start the daemon (needs root persmissions_ before running teamviewer:

teamviewer --daemon start

If you did not disable the daemon, please contact teamviewer support. Run the following command to obtain all log files:

teamviewer --ziplog

after:
Code:
 # /etc/init.d/teamviewerd8 start
 * Starting Teamviewer Daemon ...

and /opt/bin/teamviewer8 as root iworks.
It will not work if its ran as user.

I have no /opt/bin/teamviewerd.

[ebuild R ~] net-misc/teamviewer-8.0.20931:8 USE="(-system-wine)" 0 kB

I find the package setup not worth the emerge and might as well download the package manually and run it all from command line with wine which will run well as user and without having to start any services.
The current packaging setup needs improvement.

EDIT:
Running it as root also does not work. i don't even get my own ID.

This problem is SOLVED by manual install method and NOT package management (emerge). Ditch the ebuild..
