What USE flags were enabled for xorg-server build? Your log is definitely weird, it seems like xorg stops loading itself.

Not necessarily - it might be this log is a result of a hard power off, then - in a way - it would be complete.

VoidMage...

Code:
#udevadm info /dev/input/keyboard
Unknown device, --name=, --path=, or absolute path in /dev or /sys expected.

#udevadm info /dev/input/mouse
Unknown device, --name=, --path=, or absolute path in /dev or /sys expected.

#udevadm info --path=/dev/input/keyboard
syspath not found

Again I don't know WTF to do can you just tell me what you need to see cause this is going nowhere.

I'd say this asks for a RTFM response, but whatever...

The syntax in the first attempt is almost correct.
Try again with '/dev/input/event*' (that is for each 'event*' node - we don't know which nodes will correspond to mouse/keyboard and that can change every now and then anyway).

Though either confirm or deny my guess about power off.

What I'm trying to establish here is whether udev is working correctly (in the relevant part) both by itself and on kernel/userspace boundary.
On that note: any chance you've recently moved to systemd ?

i want the output from
Code:
# lspci -n

easy to find hardware kernel module with this

libusb error is probably cause the problem with no working usb mouse keyboard ?

kernel config look good | kernel print support is set use cups with '-usb' useflag package.use
and check global usb flag is set in emerge --info under "USE="...usb..."

I doubt it's a libusb problem, I also tried booting with an old ps/2 keyboard. Still didn't work.
I posted my kernel .config above as you can see USB support is enabled. Also the keyboard works fine outside of X in the console.

I piped the output to a text file then manually typed in the commands so hopefully I didn't make any mistake so here is my udevadm info output. I'm not sure what these "events mean but events 4 & 5 correctly identify my mouse and keyboard as razor deathadder and razor deathstalker.
Code:
#lspci -n

OK so after scouring the forums I found something interesting here (according to that thread it looks like I am not the only one having this problem). Apparently I used a make.conf from an older install (this install is only a few weeks old) and didn't have the openrc use flag. This must be something relatively new cause I never knew I needed this flag so once I added "openrc" to my use flags and emerge -uDN world, portage wanted to install udev-init-scripts and systemD. I am not sure why systemD is being installed, I don't want to switch to it quite yet, at least until I get the other bugs worked out first, but I let portage do its thing. Now when X starts up the keyboard is functioning but the mouse still isn't. I'm not sure how to get the mouse going yet, but it is late I will work on that tomorrow. I'm just glad progress is being made.

Well, udev-init-scripts were likely the problem, as none of the input devices were tagged.

As for the new problem, once again, new log, tags on event* nodes, etc...

Chances are what's pulling systemd is >=gnome-3.8 and you're in a lot of fun that's not.
systemd will be quite useless installed, if it's not used.

I use kde and have the -gnome use flag set so it should not have gnome 3.8 being pulled in.

sigh: in my 10+ years of using gentoo I have never had this much trouble with it and it's probably all due to this stupid force change to systemD. Anyways here is the news xorg log.

What really stands out is the phrase "No input driver specified, ignoring this device." Keeps coming up. Not sure why that is when everything seems to work outside of X.

Not sure if systemD has something to do with this but this is what seems to be pulling in systemD
Code:

Not sure why but after not hearing any feedback from the forums on this issue I decided to try at it again. So I re-ran nvidia-xsettings to generate a new xorg.conf then tried to start X and my keyboard and mouse now works but I have to unplug and replugin in the devices everytime I run xserv

Edit: I want to mention that I tried unplugging the keyboard and mouse before and it never worked before. I think it's working now because of the addition of the openrc use flag.

Anyone know what I have to do to keep from having to replug in the keyboard and mouse when I start X?

LOL if this is another HD failure I will go insane. This is a brand new SSD that I just got after my old Gentoo install on a hard drive just died on me. fsck.ext4 report no errors. so I hope that is now the cause of this.

try change sata port and cable and check dmesg again. Look bios settings smart is on
and AHCI mode on. INTEL SSDSC2CT08 335u have the problem

use http://www.sysresccd.org is gentoo based check with it your hardware
a read error can cause your problems.

Sorry my english is bad, hope you understand it

add this option to your kernel config

Code:
CONFIG_MTRR=y
CONFIG_MTRR_SANITIZER=y
CONFIG_MTRR_SANITIZER_ENABLE_DEFAULT=1
CONFIG_MTRR_SANITIZER_SPARE_REG_NR_DEFAULT=0

blacklist 2 module lpc_ich and gpio_ich

fix this: (i801_smbus & iTCO_wdt) a in use
