Right now, it's time RHEL 7 will be released, so what do you think, wait for RHEL 7 to come up in the RHCE exam, or give an exam based on RHEL 6? _________________ Buy from companies supporting opensource -- IBM, Dell, HP, Hitachi, Google etc...

They are going to be the same. Plus the takeup of the new version will be at a crawl because once you get your server working perfectly you don't change it unless something big needs to be done - and then you work 24/7 for a month and change everything.
Do it now. You might also want to think about doing this _________________ "Sex: breakfast of champions" - James Hunt |

If the certification has value to you, and you have the time & money, it could be useful to have both. Also, they "expire" now. That said, if someone wants experience with 6, you can still mention that you have / had the certification.
I no longer chase the dragon. The certifications I've obtained have never seemed to make a difference in hiring decisions (in fact, I've usually gotten a certification followed by a job unrelated to that cert). _________________ The mob moves like demons possessed. I have a RHCE from 2006. Never used it. _________________ "Defeat is a state of mind. No one is ever defeated, until defeat has been accepted as a reality." -- Bruce Lee |

Of course, experience has more value, but when you don't have that, this helps. _________________ Buy from companies supporting opensource -- IBM, Dell, HP, Hitachi, Google etc...

I've never personally benefited form a certification. And while I don't know that having them has hurt me, I have met people who consider certifications without experience a negative during candidate selection. It is virtually impossible to read the tea leaves correctly to know what they want. But if you think your job market would look favorably upon certification, then go for it. _________________ The mob moves like demons possessed. Quiet in conscience, calm in their right. It's not reading tea leaves.
If your asking price is within their budget and they think you're capable of following orders, they'll hire you. _________________ "Defeat is a state of mind. No one is ever defeated, until defeat has been accepted as a reality." -- Bruce Lee |
