Hi I can use startx to get a desktop environment but then none of my keyboard or mouse are loading based off what xorg.0.log is not saying. I got the problem down to udev, not having a init.d script or being in rc-update. I recently did a world reinstall. I also can't get any input from lxde in a 32bit chroot and also a world reinstall in it.
Does udev need a init.d script and ifso how do I get one? And how do I fix no input in lxde? |

Seems like you don't have udev installed. If you set the "udev" USE flag xorg will pull it in. And then there is the choice between udev and eudev. |

I emerged udev which pulled in udev-200 and nothing changes(no init.d script or input in lxde.) |

You should change USE flags so that your system actually need udev if you wish to use it. And not install it by hand.
Then you'll also have the sys-fs/udev-init-scripts package which houses init scripts for udev and eudev.
EDIT: Also, if you have xorg compiled without udev support it won't use it. Even if you install it (as you did).
EDIT2: You're not using the desktop profile, are you? |

Eselect profile list
Current one is
* default/linux/amd64/13.0
And after reinstalling xorg with udev support and installing the init scripts it works .
But that just broke my wireless
Edit
Ok fixed wireless udev just changed the interface name |

I suggest that you move to the desktop profile, it'll just be easier, as you seem to have a desktop system.
default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop
It might be that udev gave your wifi card a different name. Run `ifconfig -a` to see if it's somewhere there.
EDIT: Didn't see your edit in time Still, consider the profile change. |
