Speakup Included In Latest Install?

Hi all. I was looking to see if Speakup came with the Gentoo disc image file. If not, where can I go get one that has Speakup on it? If so, how do I start it?

Yes it come with some speakup boot parameters.

How would I go about starting speakup? Is there something I have to do in the boot prompt, or can I press enter at the boot prompt and type speakup?

At the first screen you will probably choose the kernel call gentoo and you can pass parameters to it. Each of them are explained from F3 to F7 keys. F6 explain the speakup parameters.

That didn't seem to work. Here's what I did:
Set up VirtualBox to use the ISO (AMD64 minimal)
Started the machine.
Gave it about five seconds, then pressed the f6 key.
Gave about thirty seconds to see what would happen.
I heard nothing, so tried typing text.
Does f6 cause Speakup to start with the Espeak synthesizer? And if the sound is muted, does Gentoo minimal come with the Alsa-Mixer?

From the boot screen, the F6 key show you some speakup kernel parameters with an explanation for each. The F6 key by itself do not do anything else. You have to pass a speakup parameter for it to work during or after the boot. This load the speakup module spkout

I was told to use gentoo speakup.synth=soft to start the necessary Speakup component I needed. How do I keep it so that Speakup will always start when I reboot?
