Hello!
Iam looking for a nice lightweight rss reader for my fluxbox..
I have used something called "rainmeter" on windows before, and that one is completely transparent, and only shows the text in small "boxes" directly on the wallpaper.
Does any of you guys know something like that for X/fluxbox?
Thanks.

I am not familiar with that reader you mention, so it's hard to come by with something similar. But, if you are in the lightweight side of things, a look to snownews might woth for you. You can always run it into a transparent terminal emulator or something and stick it to your desktop to make it look like you want, I guess.
I, personally, after tinkering with lots of these, finally sat down with tiny tiny rss, which is a web-based solution. I ended up chosing this because news are not sensible material, so I have no problem hosting these on the cloud, plus I can fetch the news once (the web app does that for me) and read them in several places, there's even an android client for it. A killer feature is that you can filter everything you don't care about by content, so reading news stopped being a tedious thing for me. That also saves some traffic. |

I also would have suggested a sticky transparent terminal, but instead of snownews I would have recommended newsbeuter. (it's in portage, too) |
