Well, not so free but cheaper than Windows 7 is the new Windows 8.1 full install which is AU$100. Still overpriced, but it's a start. |

However, getting rid of Technet, that was just stupid. _________________ I can saw a woman in two, but you won't want to look in the box when I'm through.

You have 90 days or something anyway, it's probably the least painful aspect of Windows...the non-transferable nature of the licence, as you mentioned, no central driver database, limited control of interface, no real command line mode... |

Aaaaah the hell days of having to deal with windows and dual-boot. It's like having an abusive parent, it all seems so normal at the time. _________________ “If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him” |

A lot of it is just as half-baked as open source, too. Take smartcards and biometrics, for example. Very weak. _________________

The problems with having to call in were widely reported. I don't know if they still operate that way. I've not had an issue with interface control, its never been something I spent a lot of time tweaking in Linux (in fact, its usually an irritation in Linux). Since PowerShell, the CLI argument is pretty much eliminated. _________________ I can saw a woman in two, but you won't want to look in the box when I'm through.
