quake2: mouse moves to left but crosshair moves to the right

This is really weird.. I just installed quake2-icculus and it works mostly fine; however, mouse is inverted in the horizontal direction: moving the mouse to the left causes it to go right and vice versa. The up-down direction works fine; is there some nifty configuration option that I can select to solve the issue?

For a quake2 which has bugfixes, try yamagi.

Thanks, trying that, but now running into trouble with pulseaudio.

Indeed, Yamagi Quake 2 works perfectly; why do we have icculus as the default in portage?!
