I've been having this issue for some time on ~amd64 where GTK3 applications look broken. I'm using XFCE-Kolors as my theme, but switching to another XFCE theme or Adwaita doesn't help - Adwaita looks even worse. Also the language list in Gedit doesn't scroll, which probably is related to the theme issues. Does affect all GTK3 applications though. Does anyone else have this problem or an idea what to do? _________________ Get an operating system! |

XFCE uses gtk2 - so I'd guess most themes will be gtk2 only. Either you use a theme that supports both or you try to create a file ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini which contains:
[Settings]
gtk-theme-name = "<gtk3 theme>"
gtk-font-name = "<font name and size>"
gtk-applications-prefer-dark-theme=false # this one is optional, light is afaik the default
replace the placeholders inside <..> with something sensible of your choice. |

That doesn't help, actually doesn't seem to change anything. I do have the XFCE GTK3 themes installed and it looks like they are being used, just wrongly. _________________ Get an operating system! |

Check that your gnome-themes-standard matches your gtk3 major version - e.g. 3.4, 3.6 or 3.8 |
