|
|
Hello,
I just updated my kernel from 3.8.13 to 3.10.7 as described in the kernel upgrade guide.
I manually added the appropriate entry into the grub.conf and updated grub accordingly.
Now I have two entries for gentoo (one for the old and one for the new kernel).
I can boot with the new kernel, however the xserver fails to start telling me, it might not be configured correctly.
When I reboot and select the old kernel all works as it should be - why is that?
EDIT:
I was able to solve this problem by reinstalling the nvidia drivers.

The one you posted.
Seems I overread this part:
Quote: | If you use any kernel modules that are not included in the kernel source tree but are provided elsewhere in Portage (e.g. ALSA drivers and NVIDIA or ATI graphics drivers), then you must reinstall these after upgrading the kernel. |
